John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who specialized in folk music, inspired millions of people. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf at Roswell near New Mexico fell in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado to many all over the world. Through my travels I've encountered individuals from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado, the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short time in small folk groups. Danoff had Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver realized that it could become a smash hit when he heard an earlier version. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days later.
